The Mundelein Village Board on March 9 approved a package of ordinances, budget actions and routine items, including changes to the village’s landlord-registration process, adoption of the 2026 official zoning map, approvals for subdivision plats and property variations on South Butterfield Road, a TIF budget amendment and payment of $832,272.03 in governing-body bills.
Landlord-registration ordinance: The presiding official introduced an ordinance to amend Chapter 16.44 of the Mundelein Municipal Code to formalize an annual renewal certification process, permit electronic renewal submissions and remove the requirement for a full annual application. Trustee Yudaste moved the ordinance and Trustee Grieco seconded. The clerk called the roll and the measure passed on a recorded vote.
Zoning, plats and variations: Trustee Morris brought multiple land-use items. The board adopted the official 2026 zoning map for the Village of Mundelein and approved a preliminary and final plat for properties at 1212 and 1250 South Butterfield Road. Separately the board approved a map amendment and variations for 1250 South Butterfield Road and a variation for 1212 South Butterfield Road. During discussion a trustee noted an underground water-retention easement that appears to cover much of the proposed parking area; village staff said easement language must be reviewed to confirm what structures are permitted over it.
Finance and bills: The Finance Committee moved and the board approved a tax-increment financing (TIF) budget amendment and later approved payment of governing-body bills for the Feb. 24–March 9, 2026 period totaling $832,272.03. Trustee Swank moved the TIF amendment; the board recorded a roll-call vote and the motion passed.
Other approvals and procedural items: The board authorized temporary signage for the Mundelein Mustang swim club from March 10–20, 2026 and approved omnibus items 1–3 together. Under other business trustees voted to recess into executive session to discuss personnel, property acquisition, pending litigation and minutes under provisions of 5 ILCS 120/2; the board recessed and indicated there would be no action following the executive session.
Vote details: Where the clerk recorded roll calls, the meeting transcript records the clerk calling each trustee by name with an affirmative vote recorded and the presiding official declaring motions passed. The transcript indicates unanimous recorded votes for the matters called during the meeting.
What happens next: Ordinances and approvals will proceed through the village’s standard administrative and permitting process; the applicant for the proposed golf-simulator liquor license was told to coordinate with staff for next steps.
