The board then voted to confirm Michael Waters’ appointment; Waters took the oath of office at the meeting.
During public comment, former village employee John Lobato praised Smith’s work and demeanor, saying she helped colleagues resolve recurring technical problems and “she always had a smile on her face.” He credited her behind-the-scenes service for allowing other staff to perform their duties effectively.
The proclamation and the appointment were approved by voice and roll-call votes. The board also noted plans for a Committee of the Whole meeting on April 13 to discuss zoning text amendments.
The board did not take further action on the proclamation; it stands as an acknowledgment of Smith’s service and the appointment will take effect with the oath administered at the meeting.
