Livingston County authorizes up to $200,000 purchase of 26-foot sheriff’s boat, creates boat capital project

Undersheriff Bean reviewed the county’s current marine fleet and usage, noting the county may need additional boats if the state withdraws two loaned boats. The procurement method for the purchase is a cooperative contract (GSA #47QMCA18D0006); the funding source in meeting materials is shown as local (100%) and budgeted.
The Board created Capital Project Account H.222.8760.3152-2900.25 for the LCSO Boat Purchase in the amount of $109,977, to be funded from an interfund transfer, and also authorized the Treasurer to transfer an additional $90,023 to that capital account to fund the balance of the purchase from CIP earmark money. The transfer motion was made by Mr. Wadsworth and seconded by Mr. DiSalvo; the committee recorded the motion as carried.
Why it matters: The purchase expands the sheriff’s marine capabilities and shifts CIP funds to complete the transaction. Committee discussion noted potential 50% state reimbursement for hoists but did not record a formal estimate of any state contribution to the boat cost.
