The Codington County Board approved several finance and personnel items during its May 26 meeting.
Auditor (Brenda) presented salary claims for May totaling $870,008.42; the board approved the claims by motion and voice vote. The board also approved the first interest payment on a bond due June 1 in the amount of $1,074,812.50.
On personnel, the board authorized advertising to fill an administrative-support position in the auditor's office (grade 20, starting wage $21.96) to replace a departing employee and later approved a temporary part-time administrative support appointment effective May 20, 2026. Commissioners also approved budgeted travel for veteran-service staff to attend certification and benefit school.
Why it matters: The bond interest payment is a sizable scheduled cash obligation; salary claims and personnel actions are routine but collectively affect the county’s near-term cash flow and staffing capacity.
Next steps: Auditor to process claims and prepare bond payment; recruitment activity to be posted and hiring to proceed per county personnel procedures.
