Minooka 201 approves tentative 2025 levy; public hearing set for Dec. 15
Summary
The Minooka Community Consolidated School District 201 board approved a tentative 2025 levy with an estimated tax rate of 3.16% and set a public hearing and possible adoption for Dec. 15, 2025 at 6 p.m.; the district cited a $24 million EAV increase tied to an Equistar agreement that reduced the district's estimated rate.

Mary Robinson, the district’s chief school business official, asked the board to approve the tentative 2025 levy “in tentative form,” citing updated equalized assessed value projections that changed the levy estimate.
Robinson told the board she increased Grundy County’s projected equalized assessed value by $24,000,000 after a recent tax agreement with Equistar, which shifted the district’s estimate and helped lower the projected tax rate. "With that... our estimated tax rate will be 3.16," Robinson said, adding that last month's estimate was 3.18.
Robinson said the tentative operating levy under consideration is $41,000,000 against a current‑year budget of about $79,000,000, and noted that the operating levy typically represents roughly 54–55% of the district budget. She asked the board to set a public hearing and possible adoption for Dec. 15, 2025, at 6 p.m., and said the hearing will include a presentation of fund balances and allow members of the public to speak.
After brief questions about the action language, a board member moved to approve the 2025 tentative tax levy as presented and to set the public hearing on Dec. 15 at 6 p.m.; another board member seconded the motion. The motion was approved on a roll‑call vote.
Next steps: the district will publish the required public notice and hold the Dec. 15 hearing during the regular board meeting, at which the board could adopt the levy following public comment and review of fund balances.
