Board approves fiber installations, sign permit and several routine personnel and benefit items

The Custer County Board of Supervisors approved several infrastructure and administrative items during its May 12 session, including two fiber‑optic installations, a conditional sign placement, an employee benefit renewal and personnel-administration steps.

Jacob Holcomb, Broken Bow city zoning administrator, and Bill Patsios of TriCity Signs requested permission for a Heritage Bank sign on county property near the Judicial Center. The board approved placing the sign at the preferred corner location provided the bank signs a waiver and agrees to zero-cost maintenance; the board left option 2 in reserve if the agreement is not executed.

The board approved two applications from CPPD to install fiber-optic cable: one to serve 41156 Rd 790 (Don Olson) with roughly 2,500 feet of cable starting at Rd 412 and Rd 790, and a second for multiple locations in the Arnold exchange that will require plowing and boring in county right-of-way. Both motions were made and seconded by board members and passed by roll call votes recorded as unanimous.

The board also approved the BC/BS dental subgroup renewal with no rate change and approved a Sick Leave Bank application after finding all requirements met. The highway superintendent hiring process was set: the highway committee will interview and narrow applicants to three, with applications closing June 15, 2026, and final interviews June 23, 2026.

No dissenting votes or conditions beyond the sign waiver and maintenance requirement were recorded in the minutes for these items.
