Erath County commissioners approve replats, contracts and equipment purchases; table Precinct 1 barn award

Financial and procurement actions included approval of regular and recurring invoices totaling $541,785.66 and several net-zero line-item transfers between departmental budgets. The court opened five bids for the Precinct 1 maintenance barn construction (including Bosque River Builders’ $608,330 bid and Advanced Ag Services’ $618,234 bid) but tabled awarding the contract to allow more time for review.
Other approvals included:
- A records-preservation contract with CoFile to stabilize and scan fragile probate records (quote $102,326.40), to be paid from the county’s dedicated records-preservation fund.
- Authorization to purchase a used 4,000-gallon water truck for Precinct 4 from East Texas Trucks for an amount not to exceed $70,000, described as a lower-cost alternative to a new $200,000 truck.
- Authorization for the presiding officer to sign closing documents for a building purchase for juvenile probation (appraisal came in higher than purchase price); court noted a tentative closing date of June 1.
- Approval of a payment-processing agreement with Tyler Technologies to enable e-filing in both justice of the peace offices; the system is to be paid by filer fees, not county funds, the presenter said.
- Approval of a mutual-aid agreement among first- responder agencies and a letter of concurrence allowing Palo Pinto County to use an Erath County VHF frequency (with requirement to cease use if interference occurs).
