Steve Carragher reports PT Compact testing under way; background checks required for new initial licenses June 1

Steve Carragher said his office submitted its first file to the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) and is awaiting reconciliation results as testing of the PT Compact import/export process continues.
"We submitted our first file to FSBPT on Friday morning," Carragher said, adding that their contact was out of the office that day and they had not yet received a reconciliation file to confirm successful transmission. "All of our testing indicated that it would be, but we just haven't had a chance to get the reconciliation file back from them to see how the data transmitted." (Steve Carragher)
Chair Dr. Lori Devaney had earlier read an email from Stephen Garriger reporting progress and described the update as "an optimistic note," saying the group hopes to "go live soon."
In addition to the testing update, Carragher told members his office will "make the requirement for a background check for initial licensing applications effective for all applicants received on and after June 1st." The chair and other members responded positively to that announcement.
The board previously reviewed and approved minutes from its last meeting; the chair noted that work on the PT Compact is continuing though no firm timetable had been provided. The meeting concluded after routine business and an introduction of the Department of Public Healths new deputy legal director.
