The Alabama State Board of Public Accountancy on Jan. 27 approved written reinstatement requests for several individuals who had previously surrendered CPA certificates and voted to accept AICPA advisory grades and to issue new certificates.
Executive Director D. Boyd Busby presented reinstatement requests that included required forms and fees. The Board voted to reinstate Sarah Lynne Cook (Certificate No. 10619) to active status following confirmation of required paperwork and payment of a $100 personal registration fee for fiscal year 2025‑2026. The Board also reinstated Karen Coulson Simmons (No. 7430) to active status and reinstated Hannah Woods Bourgeois (No. 10742) to inactive status after review of submitted documentation.
The Board approved reinstatements for Richard Maurice Byerly, Jr. (No. 10989‑R) and approved active‑status reinstatements for two applicants who had outstanding fines and late fees: Cawen Lee (No. 13731‑R) and Matthew Ryan Woody (No. 13660). The minutes state both Ms. Lee and Mr. Woody submitted payment in the amount of $1,200 that covered previously levied administrative fines, past registration fees, and late renewal penalties, and both submitted verification of completion of the NASBA CPE Ethics Training Course as required.
Separately, the Board reviewed AICPA advisory grades for the October–December 2025 Uniform CPA Examination and voted to approve the grades as released to candidates. The Board also approved issuance of new CPA Certificates Nos. 15506 through 15587‑R.
Board members recorded motions and roll call votes for each reinstatement and for the exam‑and‑certificate approvals. The Board took no additional administrative action beyond the approvals recorded in the minutes.
