Council approves conditional inspection for used public works machine

Staff described the procurement path: a local inspection by the town’s Bobcat dealer (cited inspection costs between about $300 and $800) or a staff trip to view the unit. Shipping from Flint, Texas, was estimated; one speaker said shipping could run about $1,200. Members also discussed obtaining written confirmation or video of the machine condition to protect the town when buying an out-of-state used unit.
Councilmember (S6) moved to approve a conditional purchase contingent on receiving an inspection report from a mechanic; Councilmember (S3) seconded the motion. The council approved the motion by voice vote.
The motion authorizes staff to proceed with the inspection and negotiate purchase terms if the machine proves mechanically sound; the council did not approve a final purchase contract at the meeting.
