Jasper County supervisors approve liquor licenses, claims, minutes and VA Board reappointment

At its May 20, 2026 meeting the Jasper County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a liquor license for Sugar Grove Vineyards, a temporary license for Baxter Fun Days (July 8–12, 2026), claims through May 19, minutes, and the reappointment of Ed Spangenburg to the VA Board.
The Jasper County Board of Supervisors met at 9:30 a.m. on May 20, 2026 and unanimously approved a series of routine actions including liquor licenses, claims and meeting minutes.
Supervisor Cupples moved and Supervisor Talsma seconded approval of a liquor license for Sugar Grove Vineyards; the motion passed with votes from Cupples, Chairman Thad Nearmyer and Talsma. The board also approved a temporary liquor license for Baxter Fun Days, scheduled July 8–12, 2026, on a motion by Cupples and a second from Talsma.
On a motion by Supervisor Talsma, seconded by Supervisor Cupples, the board approved claims paid through May 19, 2026. The board likewise approved the minutes of the May 12, 2026 regular meeting and the Special Meeting minutes for the Jasper County Community Development Director from May 12, 2026; both motions were moved by Talsma, seconded by Cupples, and adopted unanimously.
The board reappointed Ed Spangenburg to the Veterans Affairs Board for a term expiring June 30, 2028; the motion to reappoint was moved by Talsma, seconded by Cupples, and passed unanimously.
After these actions the board voted to enter a work session and later adjourned. No votes failed or dissenting votes were recorded in the public minutes for this session.
