Riley credited organizations and local leaders—Bervin Harris at the Renaissance Youth Center, Sherman Brown at Aim High and program partners Road to Success and Aim High—for sustaining participatory budgeting and other engagement. He said the district’s work includes mentorship pairings and upstate retreats for young women to provide workshops, headshots and continued mentor connections.
Riley framed the programs as pathways to entrepreneurship and career readiness and noted the council’s role in supporting space and partnership agreements. He cited examples of student accomplishments—robot-building and pitch-competition winners—and said the district will continue to support such programs through partnerships and grants.
