The mayor said the Industrial Development Board and the city are negotiating several large projects, including a potential $13–14 million project on the old hospital site, interest in the Sonic facility, and activity in the South Industrial Park with both U.S. and international groups looking at available sites. He also said the Highway 43 expansion is about to begin and will bring construction activity and longer‑term economic benefits.
