Weber County approved an interlocal agreement May 26 enabling the Weber Housing Authority (WHA) to apply for and receive Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding administered through the county. Staff said the WHA was awarded $100,000 in the regional rating and ranking process for an emergency rental assistance program serving low‑income households in Weber County outside Ogden City.
Ashley Thoman presented the interlocal agreement and explained it is required for a nongovernmental partner (the WHA) to receive CDBG funds through a county sponsor. WHA representative Andy Beadles described the program: funds will provide emergency rental and deposit assistance to help households avoid eviction or exit homelessness. The award will allow a one‑time payment not to exceed one month's rent; recipients must be referred by a partner agency, participate in budgeting classes with Cottages of Hope, and receive case management from a partnering agency.
Thoman said the interlocal runs three years. Commissioners approved the interlocal and then convened the required public hearing for the CDBG project. Staff read the public‑hearing statement noting the WHA's $100,000 award; no public comments were recorded at the hearing.
The commission approved the interlocal agreement to sponsor the WHA's CDBG application and the related public‑hearing record. Staff said they and WHA representatives would remain available to answer public questions following the meeting.
