Ruth (Speaker 3), representing the library/trustees, described rising e‑book costs and a reduction in Friends of the Library fundraising, saying the library would rely more on the regular budget for materials. She recommended a small incidentals line: "I would put $100 in incidentals just for things that might come up," and supported modest travel and training funds for a new director to attend regional meetings.
The trustees also raised facility and access concerns. The chair said a $2,000 allotment was included to enlarge a back door and improve wheelchair access, and attendees discussed difficulties maneuvering between stacks and issues with ice buildup in an uninsulated area. On several exchanges, trustees and committee members proposed low‑cost lighting and reflectors to improve visibility at the library driveway and sign garden at night; Public Works (Speaker 5) advised caution about fixture glare and suggested reflectors on taller posts as a lower‑impact solution.
