The North Manchester Town Council voted to create a paid marketing and events coordinator position to support an expanding slate of parks and community events.
Adam, a town staff member who outlined the proposal, said the town is adding parks and expects more events in coming years. "As we've got a lot more parks currently and we have more coming in the next few years, our goal with those parks is to continue to create events," he said, describing the position as an "essential hub" to coordinate logistics across town hall, parks, streets and utilities.
Adam told council the role would handle event coordination (closures, insurance, electrical needs), work with local organizations and churches that hold street or pavilion events, and update the town's digital platforms to publicize activities. He said the council would review a final job description and salary recommendation before the position is filled.
Council moved, seconded (Alan and Gary were recorded as seconding the motion) and approved creation of the position by unanimous voice vote. The council directed staff to return with the position description and compensation details for a future meeting.
