Bunker Hill Village — The Memorial Villages Police Department and the Village Fire Department presented monthly activity reports to the City Council on March 17.
Chief Schultz reported that 17% of the department's 2026 budget has been expended to date, noting that several annual contracts are paid at the beginning of the year. He said MVPD is fully staffed, that detectives continue to investigate cases involving property-tax payment checks mailed to SBISD being intercepted and "washed" and fraudulently cashed, and that MVPD responded to 1,648 calls for service in Bunker Hill Village during February. Chief Schultz also said the traffic trailer deployed on Bunker Hill Road recorded an "average speed recorded in the 85th percentile [of] 31.2 MPH," and that a formal written report would be submitted to the City within a week.
Chief Croft reported the Village Fire Department had expended 27% of its budget to date, with an average February response time in Bunker Hill Village of 5 minutes, 18 seconds. He said the department is completing hiring for two candidates (one expected to begin at the end of March and another in April), the captain injured in a ladder-truck accident 16 months ago has returned to full duty, a rental ladder truck is in service while a replacement is expected later this year, and a blocker apparatus vehicle funded by a joint budget amendment was expected to arrive in May.
Council expressed appreciation for prompt responses to resident concerns and asked staff to provide the traffic-trailer report to the City when available.
