Council members then approved three membership applications to the Wayne Volunteer Fire Department. The council unanimously accepted the application for Ethan Valmart, who was not present because he was working a wildfire assignment, and approved cadet memberships for Callan Gamble and James Hile. Council discussion noted program limits for cadets (up to age 18) and insurance-related restrictions on their duties.
The actions take effect immediately as staffing and onboarding steps proceed. Monahan said he will remain available to advise Widner during the transition.
