NTRAK model-train club discusses exhibit at Belgrade Library; board considers logistics

Model-train club representatives Dan DeFore and Dave Hawkins described the NTRAK modular layout to the Belgrade Community Library Advisory Board on March 24 and discussed logistics for a possible library display.
Scott Mullen said the club began in 2007 and that members travel with modules; presenters said membership usually ranges from seven to 18 people and that they can run four trains at a time with at least two operators. They noted displays typically run 3–6 days, weekends and evenings are easier for member availability, and that a Gallatin History Museum show drew about 250 visitors compared with typical single-day attendance of about 40.
Presenters said the club has used 501(c)(3) status in the past but has not renewed that designation; board members noted that some fundraisers (including Give Big) require a 501(c)(3) sponsor or partner. The board discussed possible locations in the library (makerspace visibility, south side of the community room) and operational details (ropes, secured areas and member pickup of modules).
"People love toy trains," NTRAK presenters Dan DeFore and Dave Hawkins said. Board members encouraged coordination on scheduling and logistics if the club pursues a display during community events such as America 250 celebrations.
No formal action was taken; further scheduling and logistics would be arranged between the club, library staff and the Foundation if the exhibit is pursued.
