Broken Bow council approves Conditional Use Permit for vehicle sales, signs off on appointments and consent items

The Broken Bow City Council voted June 13 to approve a Conditional Use Permit for Broken M Sales and Service, LLC, allowing vehicle sales at 660 Kiowa Lane. The council opened a public hearing at 6:20 p.m.; Zoning Administrator Jacob Holcomb told the council that a conditional use permit is required to sell trucks from the lot and that the Planning Commission recommended approval. The hearing closed at 6:23 p.m., and the permit was approved on a motion by Councilmember Chris Myers, seconded by Paul Holland. The roll call vote recorded ayes from Myers, Russ Smith and Holland and no nays.
The council also approved the meeting consent agenda, which included the May 23, 2023 council minutes, payment of city bills totaling $247,149.88, and a fireworks application from Loud and Proud Fireworks LLC. The consent agenda was approved on a motion by Paul Holland, seconded by Russ Smith; the motion carried unanimously among members present.
During the meeting the council reappointed Dennis Jones and Jim Duncan to the Planning Commission for terms ending February 2026 and approved the appointment of Jacob Holcomb to the Planning Commission for a term ending February 2026. The council additionally approved a slate of mayoral appointments, including City Administrator Dave Schmidt, City Clerk Kandi K. Peters, Utility Clerk Katie Hogg and several public safety and administrative positions; those appointments were approved by motion and unanimous roll call vote among council members present.
Actions taken at the meeting were procedural and did not include litigation, bond issuance, or adoption of ordinances. The council adjourned at 6:27 p.m.
