At the May 20 meeting the Planning Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals appointed Rachel as the commission’s new vice chairman. The chair opened the item, commissioners discussed candidates and one commissioner volunteered to serve if the board desired. A motion was made and seconded and the commission recorded the appointment by roll call.
Commission discussion was brief and largely supportive; one commissioner told the panel that Rachel "would be totally more than capable to do this," and another said, "It'd be my pleasure," when volunteering to serve. The chair announced the appointment after the roll call.
The appointment is an internal officer selection of the commission; no village-board or ordinance-level action was required. The commission proceeded immediately to the public hearing on the text amendment regarding data centers.
