Cottonwood’s City Council approved its consent agenda on April 7, clearing multiple resolutions and a task order for airport taxiway reconstruction, while council members asked for clarification on technical and funding details.
Council addressed a request to speak on consent item 5: a task order with Dibel Engineering for design and construction phases of Taxiway A reconstruction in an amount not to exceed $266,877. A council member pressed staff on whether the taxiway’s center‑line separation to the runway (currently 150 feet) would be maintained. Staff responded that the taxiway is being reconstructed in its existing location and that center‑line separation would be maintained. “It’s my understanding that will be maintained. The taxiway is not being relocated, it’s simply being reconstructed,” staff said.
Council also asked how the work would be funded. Staff said the project is expected to be largely grant‑funded through the Federal Aviation Administration with required matching funds coming from the airport fund; if airport fund balances are insufficient the city would cover the remainder from the general fund. “It’ll be a portion of that will be grant funded through the FAA … and then the matching will be funded through the airport fund,” staff said.
The consent agenda also included resolutions authorizing submittal of highway safety grant applications to the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for DUI/impaired‑driving enforcement and selective traffic enforcement overtime (Resolution 3386 and related items), plus a resolution to authorize two traffic enforcement officer positions for FY2027 if grant funds are awarded. Those resolutions were read into the record as part of the consent agenda items.
A motion to approve the consent agenda was made and seconded; council approved the consent items by voice vote. Later in the meeting the council approved a claims report for March 17, 2026 and moved into an executive session on a personnel performance evaluation.
The council did not adopt additional conditions or amendments to the task order during the meeting; staff indicated further details are available in the project documentation accompanying the agenda.
