Mari Martinez presents LCAP one-pager highlighting $34.5 million in LCFF funding

Mari Martinez, of USD expanded learning, presented a one-page summary of the Alisal Union Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), saying the brief "roadmap" is intended to make the district's priorities and spending easier for families to review.

"We made an LCAP1 pager," Martinez said, describing the flyer as a concise alternative to the full 185-page LCAP. She said the one-pager is meant to be available at school sites, on the district website and on social media so parents and staff can quickly see where money is being directed.

Martinez outlined the district's student demographics and the funding totals that inform LCAP priorities. She said 73.1% of students are socioeconomically disadvantaged, 61.5% are English learners and 95.8% are Hispanic. Martinez said the district's LCFF supplemental and concentration grants total $34,484,960 and that current planned expenditures for contributing actions are $35,895,202.

She described the plan's spending priorities as focused on tier-one instruction (including the I-Ready program), investments in social-emotional learning and efforts to maintain strategic budget solvency so funds are spent as promised. "We wanted our goal is to have a document that every single person in our community can speak to," Martinez said.

Martinez said the draft LCAP will be the subject of a public hearing on June 3 and that the board is scheduled to take action on the plan on June 24; she said finalized materials will be cleaned up and distributed after approval.

The presentation included brief technical interruptions for translation, and Martinez thanked attendees for participation before closing.
