Cottonwood council adopts $140.2 million fiscal year 2024–25 budget

The Cottonwood City Council on July 16 adopted the city’s final budget for fiscal year 2024–25, establishing an expenditure limitation the city’s Financial Services Director said totals roughly $140,243,961.
Kirsten Lennon, the city’s financial services director, presented the budget and said there were no major changes from the tentative budget approved in June other than moving $110,000 as a line item for the senior center. “The total expenditure limitation will be $140,243,961,” Lennon said, adding that the full‑time‑equivalent staffing list and capital priorities are included in the adoption.
The council asked clarifying questions about the presentation and then voted on Resolution 3292. Vice Mayor Weldon moved to approve the resolution, the motion was seconded and the roll‑call vote carried unanimously.
The adoption sets the city’s financial parameters for the coming year; officials said routine budget oversight and any required amendments will follow standard council procedures.
The council’s next procedural step is to implement the adopted budget and monitor expenditures as the fiscal year begins.
