Selectmen approve $4,500 Phase I environmental site assessment for 102 One Mile Creek Road

The Board of Selectmen voted on March 2 to authorize a Phase I environmental site assessment for 102 One Mile Creek Road after a site walk with TRC identified signs consistent with an old farm dump and capped material.
Selectman Jim Lampos reported he and a TRC representative (Ryan Bartos) visited the property and observed visible car parts and graded areas that suggested historic site disturbance. Lampos said TRC proposed a Phase I assessment that would include a site inspection, owner interviews, town-hall and state records research and a written report to identify whether Phase II testing is needed. The Phase I cost cited at the meeting was $4,500.
Selectman John Misham moved to authorize spending $4,500 for the TRC Phase I assessment, and the motion was seconded and approved unanimously. Board members said initiating Phase I would position the town to pursue grants for Phase II testing and any cleanup work if contaminants or other issues are confirmed.
TRC has worked in neighboring towns and the vendor told the board the Phase I report could be completed in a matter of weeks once work begins. The board did not authorize Phase II work at this meeting; further action will depend on Phase I findings and potential grant eligibility.
