The board approved a wide set of operational and personnel items at its May 19 meeting, carrying motions on bids, contracts, textbook approvals, personnel actions and a change to adult meal pricing.
Superintendent staff recommended approval of low bidders for goods and services and for several public-works projects; the board adopted the recommendations. The board also approved a contract with Gulf Health Therapy Services to provide athletic trainers to Daphne High School for the 2026—'27 school year and an amended athletic-trainer contract with Encore Rehabilitation.
A motion to purchase calculators to be paid with Title IV federal funds for state accountability testing and daily instruction passed. The board likewise approved career-technical textbooks, a new high-school course and fees, and processes to dispose of old secondary health and theater textbooks as presented in the agenda exhibits.
The superintendent recommended an adult meal price increase for the 2026—'27 school year to comply with school-nutrition requirements and to cover rising costs; the board voted to approve that increase.
Multiple personnel items submitted under separate cover were approved, including leaves of absence, rescission of resignations, retirements and resignations, termination of temporary and/or non-tenured certified personnel, termination of temporary and/or probationary classified personnel (cited as in accordance with Students First Act No. 2011-270), intent-to-transfer and employment of personnel, and approval of extra work for extended periods.
Board members also approved the 2026—'27 salary schedule; one member publicly thanked Mr. West for reviewing the changes. The session concluded after approval of administrative appointments and principal assignments (Matthew Hurst for Alberta Elementary; Christina Alderman for Robertson Elementary; Brandon Clay for Elsinore Elementary).
Most motions were passed by voice vote after motions, seconds and routine "aye" responses; item-by-item details were provided in the meeting agenda exhibits.
