The Jefferson County Board of Education on May 12 unanimously awarded Bid #18-26 for ViewSonic interactive board bundles to CDW‑G at a total bundle price of $14,756.00, with additional non-specified items available at discounts ranging from 1% to 15% and a contract term of one year with an option to renew annually for up to four additional years.
CSFO Laura Nance presented the recommendation and identified state and federal funds as the sources of payment. Mrs. Carita Venable moved to approve the award; Mr. Glenn Durough seconded. The board voted unanimously to approve the contract.
In the same session the board unanimously approved a recommendation to reject Bid #20-26 for Chromebooks and associated service after staff said responding vendors could not meet mandatory price-protection specifications required for successor hardware models. The minutes state the district will procure those items through the Alabama Joint Purchasing (ALJP) program or other purchasing cooperatives instead. Mrs. Carita Venable moved to reject the bid; Mr. Glenn Durough seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The contracts and procurement decisions are part of the district's routine purchasing process for instructional technology. Board members did not debate the vendor selections on the record; next administrative steps include finalizing contract paperwork and executing purchases under the stated funding sources.
