The Tuscaloosa City Schools Board voted May 19 to approve Superintendent Dr. Cameron’s personnel recommendations, a consolidated slate of retirements, resignations, new hires, transfers, reassignments and supplemental pay items.
Dr. Cameron summarized the packet and supplemental list, saying officials were presenting a broad personnel update: “Starting on page one, you have two retirements, eight resignations, five new certified personnel, one new classified personnel, one rehire of a certified personnel, two transfer of administrative personnel, two transfers of certified personnel, two reassignments, one contract extension, two part time extended day tutors, and 34 summer learning academies,” he said. He also reviewed supplemental entries and noted suspensions and spring-semester incentive items.
Board members asked clarifying questions about specific positions and replacements; when asked whether a long-tenured employee’s role would be filled, Dr. Cameron confirmed hiring plans and supplemental replacements. After discussion the Chair called for a voice vote and announced the personnel recommendations were approved.
