Lauderdale County Schools board approves wide package of personnel actions for 2026–27

The Lauderdale County Schools Board of Education approved a broad set of personnel actions affecting certified and classified staff, supplemental positions, retirements, summer employees, non‑renewals, appointments and in‑county transfers for the 2026–2027 school year.
Resignations approved effective June 1, 2026 included Morgan Green (Teacher, Lauderdale County High), Tim Bowens (Teacher, Brooks High), Shana Walton (Teacher, Brooks Elementary) and Tiffany Alexander (Teacher Aide, Brooks Elementary). The board also recorded resignations of supplemental assignments ending with the 2025–2026 contract for Morgan Green (Head Softball, Lauderdale County High), Phillip Garrett (Head Golf, Brooks High) and Tim Bowens (Head Football, Brooks High).
Retirements approved were Melissa Smith (Bookkeeper, Underwood Elementary), effective July 1, 2026; Marla Clemmons (Teacher, Lauderdale County Elementary), effective June 1, 2026; and Gina Wright (Counselor, Brooks High), effective August 1, 2026.
The board approved summer help hires for 2026 (including Robin Brown at Underwood Elementary and Russell Shaw at district level) and a large roster of certified and classified staff, interventionists, substitutes and Child Nutrition Program staff for summer camp operations across district schools.
Non‑renewals listed in the minutes were approved for the 2026–2027 school year: Michael Canfield (Certified Non‑Renewal, Teacher, Rogers High) and classified non‑renewals including Kirk Thigpen (Custodian, Lauderdale County Elementary).
Certified appointments for the 2026–2027 academic year included Tyler Robb (Teacher and Head Boys Basketball, Waterloo High), Charlotte Rominger (Special Education teacher, Lauderdale County Elementary/Primary SPED), Kaden Reed and Shonna Penney (Underwood Elementary), and Chloe Patterson (Lauderdale County Primary), with contract start dates listed as August 3, 2026. The board also approved in‑county transfers including Jennifer Cooper (Math Coach to Waterloo), Rachel Threet (to Waterloo), Stephanie Palmer (Reaching Coach to Central Elementary), Beth Hall (Reading Coach to Brooks Elementary), Hannah Collier (Reading Coach to Lauderdale County Elementary) and Leanna Miller (Counselor, 12 month to Lauderdale County High).
All motions related to these personnel items were moved and seconded as recorded in the minutes and carried by recorded unanimous votes of the five board members.
The board scheduled its next meetings for May 22, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. and June 3, 2026 at 9:00 a.m., the latter to include presentation of the district audit.
