The Walker County Board of Education on April 9 approved a slate of routine administrative and financial items, and recorded one failed personnel motion.
Board members voted unanimously to approve the March 10 minutes, accept the February 2026 check register and bank reconciliation, and approve February financial statements. The board also approved the Regular Personnel List and the Support Personnel List but did not approve the Administrative Personnel List after a motion failed for lack of a second.
The board approved 11 field trips covering middle and high school activities — including two Curry Middle Beta Club trips that the superintendent recommended receive the customary $500 reimbursement stipend — and approved three facility-use agreements. Trustees also approved awarding the highest responsible bidders for the sale of surplus buses and authorized Superintendent Dr. Dennis Willingham to sign necessary documents on the board’s behalf.
The board unanimously approved a change in the Child Nutrition Program point-of-sale and nutritional-analysis systems, moving from PCS/PayPass/Mosaic to LINQ Nutrition’s point-of-sale/payments and nutritional analysis products; the superintendent cited cost and ease of use as the rationale. The board also approved handbook changes for the 2026–27 school year and an early May payroll payout to be distributed May 22 instead of May 31.
Notably, the Administrative Personnel List recommendation was moved by Mr. Todd Vick but received no second, and Chairman Brad Ingle stated the motion had failed; the minutes record that the vote was not recorded. Where the minutes specify motion makers, seconders and vote outcomes, this article lists them as recorded in the meeting minutes.
