Uintah County Library reports Little Library Express use; proposes Manila office stop and future bookmobile

Karen England of the Uintah County Library updated the council on the Little Library Express on April 9. Through March the service completed 55 visits and recorded 221 visitors (an average of about four per visit). Staff provide library cards, checkouts, crafts, Kids Café for children under 18, event information, and other services, and the program serves as a social gathering point for the community.
Karen proposed adding a second Manila stop at the Town Office on the first Thursday of each month from about 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., while keeping the existing county-building/park stop on the third Monday. The county’s current minivan is at capacity, and Karen said she is working with the Uinta County Commission to secure funding for a full bookmobile, with an estimated delivery timeline of 12 to 18 months after purchase; Daggett County has approved a cost-share concept in principle pending funding.
Mayor Knight offered use of the Town building for the additional stop, suggested seniors’ activities could be moved or a room closed off if necessary, and asked for a flyer to include in the town newsletter. Karen said she would provide the written proposal and flyers electronically and that residents may apply online for library cards with staff available to deliver cards during a visit upon presentation of identification.
Council members thanked Karen for the report and expressed appreciation for the service’s community role.
