Board approves funding for United Seniors and Alameda education partner; Supervisor Miley recuses

The board acted on a recommendation that had been continued from the July 22 meeting and that required a four‑fifths vote because of the nature of the funding request. With the required votes recorded, President Halbert stated, “That item passes.”
The item was taken early in the special meeting before the board turned to the larger Measure W work session and related recommendations. No public speakers were recorded on the funding item at the time of the vote.
