Panama City warns residents of temporary water discoloration during April hydrant maintenance

City Manager Jonathan Hayes said the Panama City Fire Department will conduct its annual Spring Fire Hydrant Maintenance throughout April, including inspecting, testing, flushing and servicing hydrants across the city. "Throughout April, the Panama City Fire Department is conducting its annual Spring Fire Hydrant Maintenance to make sure that hydrants are ready for emergencies," Hayes said.
Hayes warned residents that maintenance may cause temporary water discoloration caused by sediment in pipes and advised clearing taps by running water briefly before washing clothes or using dishwashers. He said work will be done weekly from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and that crews will mark hydrant locations and report needed repairs.
The City framed the work as preventative public-safety maintenance; residents with concerns about prolonged discoloration or service issues should contact the city's utilities department through the usual customer channels.
