Snowflake officials map near-term road priorities and seek data to guide projects

Snowflake's town council and planning commission on April 7 discussed a prioritized list of road projects intended to guide improvements over the next several years, with staff citing existing grant activity and the town's 2022 general plan as a starting point.
Byron Lewis asked for a priority list for the next "3-5 years of road development," and the council discussed longer-range horizons of 5, 10 and 15 years. Staff member Brian Richards listed candidate projects including Rodeo Road, Centennial Boulevard design, various 7th South improvements, a traffic signal at Circle K, Porter Road design and a traffic signal at Rodeo Road that is currently in a grant application stage.
Commissioners identified Centennial Boulevard and Rodeo Road as near-term priorities. "When we know priorities we can make better decisions," Lewis said. Commissioner Mark Sheen urged early corridor planning and noted that some development has already constrained certain options, encouraging the town to plan ahead.
Commissioner Jenn Russell asked staff for a map or list showing where recent development has been concentrated to guide where new roads and sidewalks should be built. Bruce Meyer agreed to put together materials for the council and commission to review. No formal funding decisions were made; several speakers noted that many projects will depend on winning state or federal grants.
