The Carmel Redevelopment Commission on Wednesday elected newcomer Parker Criswell as its secretary and approved a series of routine financial and asset-management actions, including the formal transfer of original Kraskino Market huts to the City of Carmel Street Department.
Chair called the meeting to order and opened the floor for nominations after noting that former Commissioner Bill Brooks had moved to the Veterans Commission and vacated the secretary post. Commissioner (unnamed) nominated Parker Criswell, the nomination was seconded and approved by voice vote with no objections. Criswell thanked the commission, saying he looked forward to working alongside commissioners and city staff.
Finance staff presented the commission’s end-of-month figures: an operating balance of $4,920,339 and total funds including restricted accounts of $18,835,292. Mr. Lee then presented two sets of claims for approval — $9,319.46 for non-operating expenses and $2,954.78 from the gift fund, which staff said is supported by sponsorship dollars for activities such as the Carmel Small Business Network. Commissioners moved, seconded and approved both claim sets by voice vote.
Under new business, staff described the transfer of a set of original huts purchased for Kraskino Market to the Street Department, where the huts have been stored, repaired and in some cases sold at auction. Henry Mostetsky, redevelopment director, said the transfer formalizes custodial practice and ensures proper titling for audit purposes; he added the CRC does not expect to reclaim proceeds from huts previously auctioned by the Street Department. A motion to transfer the huts passed by voice vote with no opposition.
The meeting concluded with scheduling announcements; the commission is set to meet next on Wednesday, May 20 at 4 p.m. in council chambers.
