Prissy Fletcher, a Legislative Affairs specialist who focuses on agriculture for St. Johns County, used the county's radio segment to promote a slate of spring agritourism and community programs including a returning farm tour, a Master Gardeners plant sale and a new quarterly agriculture newsletter.
Fletcher described the Slow Food First Coast "Tour Day Farm" as returning to north St. Johns County with participating operations including the Feed Mill, Wilson family farms, Parker Produce, Parker Flower Farms and the county Agricultural Center. She said tickets were available on-air as "904ticks t i x dot com" and that listeners should search for "2026 slow food"; Fletcher reported about 30 car passes remained at the time of the broadcast.
She highlighted the Master Gardeners plant sale at the St. Johns County Agricultural Center on April 17–18 (Friday–Saturday), which will feature Florida-friendly plants, seedlings for vegetable gardens, and educational demonstrations. Fletcher said educational sessions include a native-plants-for-birds talk at 10 a.m. on April 17 and a container-gardening demo at 2 p.m. on April 18, and that admission to the plant sale is free.
Fletcher and the hosts also discussed the revived Hastings Potato, Cabbage and Bacon Festival (a weekend event with a 'spud run') and noted that Barnes Farms and L & M Produce will provide produce giveaways to race finishers and festival attendees. Fletcher described past farm-to-table events and said the county's new ag advisory committee will help ensure farmers have a voice in county programming.
Fletcher promoted a new quarterly St. Johns County agriculture newsletter with items such as local event listings, seed-library information (expanded within the county library system), irrigation recommendations and specialty-crop program resources. She encouraged listeners to sign up via the county "Stay Informed" tab and said the content is intended for residents and farmers alike.
Next steps: event dates and educational sessions were announced on-air; Fletcher encouraged listeners to check event pages and the county's "Stay Informed" newsletter signup for ticketing and scheduling details.
