Daly City trustees approve amended library card policy

The Daly City Library Board voted March 17 to adopt amendments to its library card policy, updating language for clarity and expanding acceptable forms of address verification.
Library staff explained the revisions were largely non-substantive wording changes and efforts to modernize the policy, including replacing gendered language. During the discussion a trustee asked whether the library would accept items such as magazines as proof of address. A staff member replied the library will accept mailed items with a patron’s name ‘‘as long as it’s not just, you know, junk mail,’’ and said the policy had been adapted to address digital identification questions.
A trustee moved to approve the amended policy as presented; another trustee seconded the motion and the board approved it by voice vote.
Board members described the update as part of routine policy maintenance and said staff will implement the clarified verification guidance and other editorial changes.
