City awards design contract for Bridge Street multimodal improvements, fully grant funded

Wenatchee City Council voted March 12 to approve a consultant agreement with Osborne Consulting to provide design services for the Bridge Street multimodal improvements project (City Project 2505).
Tom Walkholder, public works director, said the contract is set at "not to exceed 554,757" and that the project is "fully funded between two different grants" — the Transportation Improvement Board and the Sandy Williams Connecting Communities Grant — meaning no city funds are tied to the design contract. Walkholder said the scope includes an extensive community‑outreach requirement, geotechnical work and utility coordination along the corridor.
Council members asked about the project schedule; Walkholder said design is anticipated to take most of 2026 with construction targeted to start in early 2027. The council approved the consultant agreement by voice vote.
Walkholder told council staff will carry out outreach beyond typical capital-project requirements to meet grant conditions and analyze intersection alternatives on South Wenatchee Avenue and Bridge Street.
