Madera County Civil Service Commission adopts Health Informatics I and II job classifications

The Civil Service Commission of Madera County on Tuesday approved new classification specifications for Health Informatics I and II to create a county position focused on health-care data collection, management and analysis.
Sabrina Mendez, of the Department of Human Resources, presented the proposal as an amendment to the county classification plan, describing it as “the adoption of the classification specification and overtime status unit designation for the health informatics 1, 2 classification.” She told commissioners the role is intended to provide dedicated expertise in healthcare data and compliance, including knowledge of “HIPAA, high tech and other related laws” to ensure secure handling of sensitive information.
The chair asked whether the change would have a large financial impact. Mendez said, “There will not be an impact to general fund,” and added that the salary for the new position would need to be approved by the Board of Supervisors. Commissioners moved and seconded the measure and approved it by roll call, 4–0.
Votes at a glance: The commission approved the consent calendar earlier in the meeting by a 4–0 roll-call vote with one member absent. The commission later approved the Health Informatics I and II classification specifications by a 4–0 roll-call vote.
The commission received no public comment during the allotted public comment period. Staff reported nothing further and the meeting was adjourned.
