Public Works updates: river drawdown for culvert work, Oak Street resurfacing and equipment repairs

Staff said the river was lowered to facilitate culvert and dam work and that once the dams are pulled the river should refill within hours. Street maintenance includes ongoing cold patching for recurring potholes, and staff noted that the front-end loader was out for about three weeks for an oil-seal repair and returned to service. A red one-ton plow truck recently had a transmission problem that was repaired by a local shop (Kingdom Auto), and the town’s chipper was repaired under manufacturer warranty after a partial melt/recall.
Oak Street resurfacing was announced to begin the following Tuesday; staff said they expect the contractor to be in and out within about a week and a half and that city crews would adjust manhole covers ahead of the resurfacing. On the park side, Park Square has been set up and the first event will run the first week of July, with Foster Park hosting events in June. Staff reported clogged toilets at the Fireman's Park restrooms suspected as vandalism and said Bernhardt Plumbing will address the drains. New lighting was installed on a community sign and crews planted trees and bushes and added mulch and black dirt for grading.
Committee members thanked staff for responsive clearing of larger debris piles and discussed options for cameras or Wi‑Fi for deterrence at restroom facilities.
