County engineering director outlines bridge and intersection work, cites design and cost adjustments

Director Joseph Palliki briefed the board on 10 Engineering, Public Works and Facilities resolutions on the agenda, highlighting two items in particular: final adjustments to the Passaic Avenue Bridge and additional design work for three intersections in Plainfield.
On the Passaic Avenue Bridge (resolution #4), Palliki said the work is essentially complete but that the final tally includes increases "for stone facade to be installed, additional guardrail and a double coating of the deck treatment." He described these items as part of the bridge's finalization costs.
Regarding resolution #10, Palliki said the Plainfield package covers three intersections: two are complete and one is expected to be finished by the end of the summer. He told commissioners the remaining intersection requires "additional design and work up on" because of a conflict with the utility company.
Commissioner Baker asked for clarification about the projects; Palliki answered and said he would provide additional intersection details when available. The board did not take votes on these items during the agenda‑setting portion; the items will appear on the regular meeting consent agenda for formal consideration.
The engineering director offered to answer follow‑up questions, and Vice Chair Williams requested more information about the specific 7th Street intersections affected; Palliki said he would "find out later."
