Staff said negotiations are ongoing and a lease on a site near the hike‑and‑bike trail (northeast corner of Trinity and Conway) is anticipated. Officials cautioned the council that incentives and final terms were still under discussion.
Briana Castis of the Mission EDC described programs for entrepreneurs including the Ruby Red Ventures Shark‑Tank style competition (applications open March 30; prizes of $25,000, $15,000, and $10,000) and a Mission Ready paid internship pilot for students with Mission addresses or attending Mission high schools. The EDC said it will cover intern wages so participating businesses incur no salary costs; the pilot will offer 15 slots and opens April 1 for applications.
Council members congratulated the EDC on the award and asked staff to return with further details as negotiations with the recycling firm proceed.
