Yolanda Cookson, representing Senator Megan D., read a congratulatory message that highlighted Knitzer’s role connecting generations to local culture.
The council noted Knitzer’s leadership roles over the years, including serving as chair of the Grass Valley Planning Commission and as president of the Greater Grass Valley Chamber of Commerce, and declared March 10, 2026, in her honor. Council members and guests in the chamber thanked Knitzer and attendees for preserving a musical tradition they said strengthens community identity.
No formal action beyond the proclamation was taken. The council moved on to other agenda items after presenting the proclamation and inviting recipients and guests to the dais to receive the document.
