The Riverbank City Council opened its meeting with proclamations honoring the city's finance staff and marking March 2026 as Women's History Month, then recognized members and coaches of the Riverbank High School cheer team.
Tammy, the city's assistant city manager and finance director, told the council the finance team handles not only accounting but also resident-facing tasks such as utility billing assistance and payroll. "Many people think that finance is all spreadsheets and numbers, but our team actually spends a lot of their day helping people," she said.
During public comment, resident Mark Heinzinger promoted a restarting of the Friends of the Riverbank Library and invited the public to a meeting on Wednesday, April 1 at 5 p.m. at the library to discuss volunteer support and programming.
The council then moved to the consent calendar (items 9.1'9.4). A council member moved to approve the consent calendar; the motion was seconded and the roll-call vote was recorded as unanimous. The clerk announced the motion passed 4-0.
After adjourning to closed session, the council reported out that it had unanimously denied two liability claims and that it gave no direction on a real-property negotiation involving 3300 Atchison Road. The meeting adjourned with notice the next regular meeting will be April 14 and the previously scheduled March 24 meeting was canceled.
Why it matters: The proclamations recognize municipal staff and volunteers; the unanimous consent vote advanced routine agenda items; closed-session outcomes resolved two liability claims without public settlement or direction on real-property negotiations.
What's next: staff will continue administrative follow-up on the consent items and make any public reports required by statute for closed-session actions.
