Hernandez also reviewed STAR benchmark grade-equivalency results, reporting that sixth-grade reading equivalency rose from "5.9 to 6.8" and that seventh- and eighth-grade median equivalencies increased; he described longitudinal charts demonstrating growth from fall to winter benchmark administrations. He credited implementation of the five essential strategies and increased family and staff engagement for moving cohort performance upward.
