The document incorporated some, but not all, input from the teachers’ union and was previously tabled last fall to allow for additional review.
Mrs. Piazza explained the timing: once the board approves the job description and the new collective bargaining agreement is in place, there will be a process for employees to express interest and be selected into coordinator roles; the district hopes to finalize selections by late May or early June so coordinators can begin summer work.
A board member asked about a specific bullet that reads, in part, “assist daily substitute teachers, write lesson plans, complete grading for teachers who are out on leave until a district long term substitute is in place as needed,” and requested clarifying language such as “as needed and as appropriate” to avoid defaulting duties to coordinators in specialized subjects. Ms. Dufour and Mrs. Piazza said they would review that language and answer further questions when the item returns for a vote.
The job description is scheduled for board approval at the next regular meeting; if approved, implementation steps and timelines will be shared with staff and incorporated into the agreement with the bargaining unit.
