He told trustees that Illinois school code requires districts to make staffing decisions about reductions and nonrenewals each spring and that the resolution contains the formal notices for affected, non‑tenured staff.
Board members spoke in appreciation of the employees affected by the changes. One trustee said the board is “appreciative of them and their commitment to LT,” and the board recorded the motion and roll‑call approval.
Piotrowski also explained the process for educational support personnel: per the negotiated agreement, all first‑year paraeducators are released at the end of the school year with the possibility of recall based on staffing needs. The district reported 16 first‑year paraeducators affected by that process. The board approved authorization to proceed with that reduction in force.
At the same meeting, trustees approved reemployment and contract renewals for the district’s administrative staff for 2026–2027, as presented in a staff memo.
