The Regional District 11 Board of Education held routine business at its May 19 meeting in Chaplin, Conn., approving several sets of minutes and the April 2026 financial statements, acknowledging a resignation, and entering executive session for personnel matters.
Minutes approvals: Michael Smardon moved and Cassidy Martin seconded approval of the April 6, 2026 public hearing minutes; the vote recorded Aye—Cassidy Martin, Stacy Foster, Mike Smardon, Joy Becker; Abstain—Stephanie Bayne; the motion passed. The board approved the April 7, 2026 minutes with the same mover, seconder and vote tally. The board also approved the May 4, 2026 public hearing minutes on a motion by Smardon and second by Martin; that motion passed unanimously.
Financials and budget forecast: On a motion by Smardon and second by Martin the board approved the April 2026 financial statements. Business Manager Jobina Miller provided a budget forecast for the 2025–26 fiscal year as part of the presentation; the financial motion passed unanimously.
Resignation: The minutes record that the board received with regret the resignation of Nicholas Sacchitella. No motion text or vote tally is recorded for the resignation in the minutes.
Executive session: At 7:45 p.m. the board entered executive session to discuss the EVA Award and the superintendent review; the board exited executive session at 8:24 p.m. The minutes do not record any substantive action taken during the executive session. The meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
