The Regional District 11 Board of Education recognized multiple students for leadership, academics, arts and athletics at its May 19 meeting at Parish Hill Middle/High School.
The board presented CABE Student‑Leader Awards to Paige Benedict, Austin Gifford, Andrew Landolphi and Madelyn Woodward. Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS) Scholar Leader Awards went to Myles Irace and Jahnvi Raj. CAS Scholar‑Athlete honors were awarded to Gracie Pearl and Madelyn Woodward. CAS Outstanding Artist Awards were presented to Laylaa Melendez and Chloe Reid. The board also presented a “Persevering Pirate” award to Aiden Warren and distributed SAT EBRW and Math test certificates to multiple students, including Allison Butts, Kevin Decarli, Isabella Dimmock, Demarcus Patterson, Amelia Sears, Gavin Sison and Inga Weissenberger.
Principal Tom McKenna and other staff identified the recipients during the awards portion of the agenda; the meeting record does not include verbatim remarks. The presentations were listed on the agenda and took place before routine business and votes on minutes and financial statements.
The recognitions were followed by standard business items; the board later entered an executive session to discuss the EVA Award and the superintendent review and adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
