Angela Quebedo, who identified herself as a business‑services employee, used the public comment period to ask the Palmdale Aerospace Academy District board to consider pay equity for a small group of unrepresented confidential staff.
Quebedo said the district’s stated mission of academic excellence and innovation should extend to the employees who support leadership and operations behind the scenes. She told the board that during the 2024–25 school year directors, the superintendent and managers received increases ranging from 15% to 40%, and that approximately 104 certificated and 122 classified staff received off‑schedule payments or increases. By contrast, Quebedo said, fewer than 10 unrepresented confidential employees — coordinators and assistant directors among them — received no increase.
"This is simply about fairness and inclusion for a small group that may have been unintentionally overlooked," Quebedo said, urging the board to consider equity rather than equalization of all salaries.
The employee organization PATA also spoke in support of unrepresented staff during the meeting. Board members acknowledged the comment and thanked the speaker; no formal board action on compensation was taken at the meeting.
